Brothers thrash Sheikh Jamal to grab maiden win

Brothers Union grabbed their maiden victory of the ABG Bashundhara Bangladesh Premier League, when they thrashed Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited 3-2 at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj on Friday.

Brothers took the lead in the stoppage time of the first half thanks to a neat finish by Eleta Kingsley. However Sheikh Jamal bounced back strongly in the second half within two minutes time. Higor Rodrigues levelled the margin in the 72nd minute converting from the spot. After two minutes Shakhzod Shaymanov gave Jamal the lead with a nice header.

Brothers replied in the dying moment of the game when two young forward helped Brothers tasting the first victory of the league. Mohsin scored a spectacular goal in the 83rd minute while Rahul found the back of the net in the 89th minute with a solo effort.

This victory gave Brothers some hope of avoiding the relegation even they are in the last position of the table with six points. It was Jamal’s third consecutive defeat in the league that put them in the seventh position with 15 points.
